24 Hour Monitoring
Your security system is only as good as the actions taken following a sensor incident or break in security. The typical system is set up to initiate a specific sequence of events:
- The security system component receives an alert from a surveillance camera, motion detector, window or door sensor, or other component.
- The system waits 30 to 45 seconds to give security personnel a chance to check the activity and, if appropriate, deactivate the system.
- If the alarm is not deactivated, the security system sends a message to the monitoring company over telephone lines.
- The monitoring company receives the message and verifies the alarm, usually by calling your security personnel. If they do not receive the proper password or do not receive an answer, the police are called.
- The police respond and also notify the fire department or medics if needed.
